A global leader in high quality, safety-critical electro-mechanical products that are sold globally are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join their 24 hour production line.
Info about what the Maintenance Engineer role entails
Exciting electro-mechanical Maintenance Engineer role on a small night shift team, supervising one Technician in a fast paced, high tech manufacturing facility. You will maintain a cutting edge 24 hour production line including pick & place machines, SMT screen printers, ovens, conveyors, automated optical inspection machines, assembly lines, robotics, conveyors & laser marking machines amongst others.
The night shift can be a challenge as there are less people available to help so you will be comfortable with root cause analysis & fault diagnosis / identification. Alongside reactive maintenance & planned maintenance activities you will run small CI projects to improve downtime and machinery performance.
Essential Requirements of the Maintenance Engineer
- Time served or HNC (or equivalent) qualification in an electrical, mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering discipline. They do a lot of small mechanical adjustments, very little 3 phase electrical maintenance.
- 2/3 + years’ experience in a similar role – some experience in maintenance environment will be essential
- Some knowledge of electrical & electronic systems & sensors e.g. PLCs, vision systems, fibre optic sensors, mechanics, pneumatics, robotics and test equipment etc.
- Good problem solving & decision making is key you will be able to fault find and diagnose - main thing is a good track record fault finding and RCA.
- Experience with RCA making improvements to machines & processes - e.g. RCA methodologies, SMED, 5Whys, fishbone, Ishikawa - predictive and preventative strategy.
- You will have a proactive mindset always looking for cost savings and improvements
Desirable Requirements of the Maintenance Engineer
- Experience of robotics, conveyors or hydraulics
- 18th Edition qualified
- Experience mentoring / leading apprentices etc - if you don't have that experience it can be developed with in house management courses, 121s & distance learning opportunities.
- Lean - proactive approach to eliminate waste, SMED etc environment, the people, the process and the equipment.

- Night shift – start from Sunday at 10.30pm - finish at 6am, then Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10pm start, 6am finish.
