Info about what the Test & Calibration Technician role entails

Working alongside a small team of Customer Support Engineers you will provide hands-on technical support in the company's Detroit office, with a particular focus on the servicing, calibration and configuration of the clients products returning from the field. You will follow established procedures to test equipment, identify basic faults and ensure products are calibrated / operating correctly, escalating more complex technical issues where required.

Essential Requirements for the Test & Calibration Technician

  • Practical service / test background (mechanical or electronics / electrical type products) with the ability to problem solve, test (using temperature meters, frequency meters etc) and calibrate / configure.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage the end-to-end customer returns/RMA process, a systematic approach from receiving and logging returned equipment through testing/calibration, tracking progress, create dispatch notes and ensuring equipment is returned to the customer efficiently.
  • Comfortable using manual hand tools and working hands-on with technical products.
  • Able to follow written test, calibration and technical procedures accurately.
  • Good basic IT/software skills and comfortable connecting equipment to PCs and using technical software.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Desirable Requirements for the Test & Calibration Technician

  • Previous test, calibration, electronics technician or hardware support experience.
  • Previous customer facing experience would be helpful
  • Experience with RMA/returns including testing and diagnosing returned customer equipment.
  • Automotive or vehicle-testing experience.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment such as multimeters or similar diagnostic tools.
  • Previous experience working with technical customers or within a 1st-line support environment.
